Split AC vs Central AC: Which is Better for Dubai Homes?

Choosing between split and central AC for your Dubai property? We compare cost, efficiency, maintenance and comfort to help you decide.

When installing or upgrading your AC system in Dubai, one of the biggest decisions is choosing between split units and a central (ducted) system. Both have advantages depending on your property type and needs.

Split AC Systems

Split ACs are individual units installed room by room. They're ideal for apartments, small villas, and spaces where you want zone-by-zone temperature control. Installation is straightforward and cost-effective.

Central AC Systems

Central systems use ductwork to distribute cooled air throughout the entire property. They're standard in larger villas and commercial spaces, offering uniform cooling and a cleaner aesthetic with no visible indoor units.

Cost Comparison

Split units have lower upfront costs but can become expensive if you need many units. Central systems have higher initial investment but lower per-room costs for larger properties. Running costs depend on usage patterns.

Our Recommendation

For apartments and small homes (1-2 bedrooms): split ACs offer the best value. For villas with 3+ bedrooms: central systems provide better long-term comfort and efficiency. For commercial: always go central or VRF.
